Somalia: Twice the Fun during Ramadan.
September 3, 2008
During Ramadan the fighters of the Islamic Courts Union (ICU) want to double their attacks on Ethiopian forces and government installations.
The ICU was pushed back in 2006 by Ethiopian forces intervening in the Somali civil war which lasts about 20 years now. Since then the ICU is slowly gaining back territory. A few days ago they claimed to have captured the third largest city of Somalia Kismayo.
After bigger military defeats in 2006 the Islamic Courts Union is gaining back its power and momentum. AlJazeera reports that the rebels have captured Kismayo Somalia’s third largest city.
The fun never stops at the Horn of Africa.

It fights for an independent Moro nation on the Philippines since the 1980s after it split from the MNLF which was formed in the 1960s.
